The film was always a tearjerker, and this Broadway / Tony award winner is just the same. There was a girl sitting next to me who cried throughput the whole show. “THE NOTEBOOK” musical tells the epic, decades-spanning love story of Allie and Noah, framed by an elderly Noah reading their story from a notebook to Allie, who suffers from Alzheimer’s in a nursing home, using three sets of actors to portray their youthful romance, middle-aged challenges, and elderly devotion, exploring themes of class, memory, and enduring love as they navigate separation, reunion, marriage, and the devastating effects of dementia.  It takes place in a coastal town in the Mid-Atlantic. The late 1960s, the late 1970s, the present.
