Spamalot – Broadway in Hollywood – March 25, 2026 – Hollywood, CA.

It you want to laugh your derrière off, go see this fantastic musical romp. It is so hilarious, and you will just laugh until your face hurt.

Spamalot is a Tony-winning musical comedy “lovingly ripped off” from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It follows King Arthur and his knights on a surreal, music-filled quest for the Holy Grail. Ultimately parodying Arthurian legends and Broadway tropes, the musical comedy features taunting Frenchmen, killer rabbits, and the Lady of the Lake.

My favorites actors and characters:

King Arthur – Major Attaway.

Sean Bell played many roles and he nailed each one.

Amanda Robles – The Lady of The Lake.

Leo Roberts – Sir Galahad, The Black Knight, Prince Herberts Father.

There were many other standouts, but these were my stellar performers.

The Quest Begins: King Arthur, accompanied by his coconut-clapping servant Patsy, recruits Knights of the Round Table (Bedevere, Robin, Lancelot, and Galahad) to join him in Camelot, a place resembling a Las Vegas resort.

Divine Mission: God instructs Arthur to find the Holy Grail, a mission supported by the Lady of the Lake, who acts as a diva-like romantic interest.

Absurd Challenges: The knights encounter ridiculous obstacles, including flatulent French soldiers, the Knights Who Say Ni, a killer rabbit, and “Not Dead Fred”.

Resolution: After various chaotic adventures, the Grail is found under a seat in the audience (or a designated spot on stage). The play concludes with Arthur marrying the Lady of the Lake (who reveals her name is Guinevere), Sir Lancelot marrying Prince Herbert, and everyone following the advice to “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”.

Like the film, it is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian Legend, but it differs from the film in many ways, especially in its parodies of Broadway theatre. Eric Idle, a member of the Monty Python team, wrote the musical’s book and lyrics, and collaborating with John Du Prez on the music. Running since March 17, 2005, it was directed by Mike Nichols and won three Tony Awards, including the Tony Award for Best Musical of the 2004–2005 season.

Idle explained the title in a February 2004 press release about the musical: “I like the title Spamalot a lot. We tested it with audiences on my recent US tour, and they liked it as much as I did, which is gratifying. After all, they are the ones who will be paying Broadway prices to see the show. It comes from a line in the movie which goes: ‘we eat ham, and jam and Spam (food) a lot.”

Tagline: A new musical (lovingly) ripped off from the motion picture.

The show that set Broadway back 1,000 years…returns!

Peter Marks of The Washington Post exclaims, “It’s UNFAIR to make me laugh this much! SPAMALOT is a tightly packed clown car speeding to musical theater nirvana!”

SPAMALOT, which first galloped onto Broadway in 2005, features a book & lyrics by Eric Idle and music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle. The original Broadway production was nominated for fourteen Tony Awards and won three, including Best Musical.

The musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the film classic, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, has everything that makes a great knight at the theatre, from flying cows to killer rabbits, British royalty to French taunters, dancing girls, rubbery shrubbery, and of course, the Lady of the Lake. SPAMALOT features well-known song titles such as “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life,” “The Song That Goes Like This,” “Find Your Grail” and more that have become beloved classics in the musical theatre canon.

SPAMALOT is 2 hours and 30 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission.
