October 24, 2026 – MUSE/IQUE – American Sound Takes Flight – The Wallis – Beverly Hills. CA.

American Sound Takes Flight – From Aaron Copland to Paul Simon – a musical pursuit of happiness. Presented in partnership with The Wallis and Classical California. Through composer Aaron Copland’s deviation from European classical music and his ability to fold in new genres, Copland uncovered a new American sound, one that celebrated the people. This movement gave birth to trailblazing artists – everyone from Leonard Bernstein to Paul Simon, to Rhiannon Giddens, and beyond! From “Simple Gifts,” to “American Tune,” connect with the history behind the creation of our diverse and democratic American Sound. Featuring Liv Redpath, Brandon Victor Dixon, and the MUSE/IQUE Orchestra, led by Artistic & Music Director Rachael Worby.

What’s so great about these MUSE/IQUE programs is that the songs that are part of your life are made to feel brand new at their shows. The show takes us from Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein to Dolly Parton, Prince, and Simon & Garfunkel. Their rendition of “Purple Rain” was especially moving, this orchestra gave me an entirely new appreciation for it. Brandon Victor Dixon’s rich, soulful voice and Liv Redpath’s breathtaking soprano – were just so amazing, a real joy to my ears!

Conductor Rachael Warby, who founded MUSE/IQUE in 2011 and serves as Artistic and Music Director. She is so filled with energy, and her enchanting stories about music history and how each piece fits into the overall theme make every performance feels like a masterclass. I always am super entertained, inspired, and a little smarter, every time I leave a performance. I also get emotional from many of the songs, they just pull at my heart strings. It is just a great way to hear and experience live music at its finest! Everyone needs to come and be part of these glorious productions; it’s music for the young and the young at heart.

Truly a magical night of music – where every note told a story.
