Dinner – Longhorn Steakhouse – October 11, 2026 – Redlands, CA.

Founder George McKerrow Jr. had a dream to serve the highest quality steaks in a simple way – no frills. He opened the first Texas-inspired Longhorn steaks restaurant and saloon in Atlanta, GA in 1981 with a menu of just seen steaks and ice-cold beer. The service was all about being real, authentic and down to earth so guests could enjoy delicious steak in a warm and friendly atmosphere. In 1981 it opened, 40 years ago. George dream was met with a humble start, serving only twenty-eight guests on day one. it wasn’t easy fighting to keep the business, and his dream, alive over the next few months. He rolled up his sleeves and took on many jobs just to get through washing dishing, pouring drinks and serving guests. One steak at a time. It took time, but his grit and perseverance paid off. Overtime Longhorn became known as the best little steakhouse in Georgia just as George dreamt it would.

The atmosphere is dark and sexy, with great décor and so much history, it really does say something about the quality of the food. The dining room is large, and the bar is very inviting for happy hour and any sports event.  There are very large booths, with ample seating for guests to enjoy a fantastic experience. The Texas Longhorns decor add so much branding to the environment. They play lively country music. You would never know that this is a chain because they are so personable and pay close attention to every detail. There were families, friends, dates, and folks who just want the perfect steak at super affordable prices. Manager Liv was so accommodating, she was so special, a really wonderful, friendly person. And my server Destiny made my experience equally terrific.

Here’s What I tried:

Cocktails:

Longhorn Old Fashioned, featuring small batch 9 year old bourbon by Knob Creek. I am not the biggest follower of this very popular drink, but done right you too will become a fan.

Patron Dragon Fruit, featuring their specially blended for Longhorn Patron Reposado tequila, triple sec, dragon fruit, pineapple, and all natural sweet and sour. Simple yet unique, this one is for the lover of sweet mixed cocktails.

Kettle One Martini, with 3 olives. Of course I must have one of these little darlings, and they made is with the perfect amount of vermouth and olive juice. A great way to start of my fabulous meal.

Starters:

Parmesan Crusted Spinach Dip, a flavorful four cheese spinach dip topped with their creamy Parmesan and garlic cheese crust. Served with crispy flatbread chips. The dip is hearty and creamy, a perfect blending a cheese and spinach and the flatbread crisps make the whole appetizer come together.

Wild West Shrimp®, is Guests’ favorite appetizer for a reason. A generous portion of shrimp hand-breaded and fried to a crispy golden brown, then tossed with spicy cherry peppers and garlic butter. Served with house made ranch. This is a huge portion, so share it with a friend, I love anything shrimp, so these were very well received.

White Cheddar Stuffed Mushrooms, with fresh, roasted mushrooms hand-stuffed with garlic herb cheese, topped with their signature Parmesan and garlic cheese crust and served over a creamy four cheese sauce. They serve their appetizers in very large white plates, so you really get a lot of bang for your buck.

Seasoned Steakhouse Wings, crisp, juicy, and full of flavor. Chicken wings are baked, then fried, and finished with their signature, smoky Char Seasoning. Served with house made blue cheese dressing and Buffalo sauce. The skin is crispy and the inside in moist and tender, another great appetizer.

Fire-Grilled Corn on the Cob, with fire-grilled sweet corn topped with house made crema and seasoned Parmesan cheese. I love corn and this appetizer is just what the doctor ordered.

Steakhouse Mac and Cheese, with creamy four cheese sauce and smoked bacon. Topped with their Parmesan breadcrumbs. A very filling side dish with great, melted cheese, a truly delicious mac and cheese.

Fresh Steamed Asparagus, with tender asparagus spears finished with their seasoned lemon sauce. Nice whole spears with a very delicate sauce, if you need to get your veggies in, then this is just the best way to do exactly that.

Loaded Baked Potato, with Applewood smoked bacon, Daisy® sour cream, aged yellow cheddar, butter and green onions. Well, the bacon puts this baked potato over the top, I just have to have a great baked potato with my steak.

Soup and Salad:

Strawberry and Pecan Salad, with farm fresh field greens topped with fresh cut strawberries, grapes, mandarin oranges, candied pecans, and feta. Served with a light raspberry vinaigrette. The grapes really pop in your mouth, and the strawberries also have a great texture and tang, a wonderful creation.

Caesar Salad, with hand-chopped romaine tossed in creamy Caesar dressing with croutons and shaved Parmesan cheese. What I really love most about both of these salads is that they don’t know cover them in dressing, they used very little, so you can taste the actual ingredients.

Shrimp and Lobster Chowder, with creamy chowder loaded with shrimp, lobster, corn, red bell peppers, and potatoes, and topped with fresh green onions. I just loved this soup; all of the ingredients are just the perfect marriage.

Chicken:

Parmesan Crusted Chicken, Signature Parmesan and garlic cheese blend smothered over freshly grilled chicken breasts.  The chicken is moist and tender with the cheesy crust, a real winner.  I was given many signature dishes at this tasting, and was happy that I was able to try these very special dishes.

Steaks:

6 oz. Flo’s Filet® with 4 oz. Lobster Tail – Grill Masters pair the best of turf & surf on one plate. Signature 6 oz. center-cut Flo’s Filet® is seared to lock in the classic buttery flavor and paired with a seasoned cold-water lobster tail and melted butter. A longhorn legend on the menu since 1981. Exceptionally tender center cut filet seasoned with their signature grill seasonings. Ok hands down this surf and turf are just incredible. The lobster is not tough, it is soft and succulent and the filet is the perfect size and cooked medium rare. It has lovely flavor, a must have steak combo.

Outlaw Ribeye®* – This big 20 oz. steak doesn’t follow the rules. Premium, marbled cut of bone-in ribeye is coated with smoky Char Seasoning and fire-grilled by our Grill Masters to bring out the flavor in every bite. This is a very large rib-eye, that is grilled with the grill marks on it. The steak is juicy and on the rare side, just the best of the best.

Dessert:

Chocolate Stampede® Can you ever have too much chocolate? Six different kinds of chocolate, paired with two scoops of vanilla bean ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. You can share this with 5 people, it is huge and the chocolate cake is off the charts.

The Cheesecake Rich and creamy cheesecake on a honey-graham crust. Topped with whipped cream and choice of caramel and candied pecans, or fresh strawberries.  They gave me 2 cheesecakes, one caramel and one strawberry, both were very sumptuous and amazing.

Wines:

Ecco Domani, Italy – Pinot Grigio, a nice pairing with the spinach dip or the wings, it adds a bold sparkling nuance.

Kendall Jackson, CA.- Chardonnay, of course you would want to drink this buttery wine with the lobster or the shrimps.

Silver Gate, CA. – Merlot. A bold rich heavy wine, but it is very nice with the chicken parmesan.

Bonanza by Caymus CA. – Cabernet Sauvignon, this was my favorite wine with the steaks. It is rich and smooth, with hints of cherry and coffee. It added so much to the overall flavors of the meats.

They pride themselves on using only fresh, never frozen cuts, the highest quality ingredients, and their own proprietary seasonings to maximize the flavors in ever juicy bite. Their grill masters have earned their strips over the years, and know when it comes to grilling – the right way is the only way.

At Longhorn Steakhouse they still believe that steak is best enjoyed in a warm, friendly atmosphere with authentic service and a shared passion for steak.

Everything here was special and tasty, and the prices are just so affordable. Even the cocktails are half the price of a regular steak house. A real true steakhouse with prices that are just amazing, that is enough reason to come to Longhorn Steak house and have one of their signature steak dinners, you will be so happy you did and it won’t break your bank!
