Pars Grill – November 3, 2026 – Lunch – Fairfax District – Los Angeles, CA.

Located in the heart of the Fairfax district in Los Angeles. It’s so nice to experience authentic Persian/Mediterranean Food in my immediate area. It is right next to the iconic Canters Deli, but really there is not a lot of competition with this type of Middle Eastern food nearby. This space used to be Naab restaurant, with similar food. Pars Grill opened in April 2026, it offers very clean heightened Mediterranean cuisine, with a bit of a twist. It is traditional but there are some flavors that are just a bit elevated then what I have tasted before.

Owner Amir Rezaei Balini was in the produce distribution business before opening Pars Grill. He and has father co-own Balini Produce and distribute their fresh produce to many fine restaurants in Los Angeles. His Mom is also there all the time helping with the kitchen and the great recipes. Most of the foods are Halal, which brings in many customers who specifically eat this kind of way. Halal foods are those that are permissible or lawful under Islamic dietary laws (Sharia). Mama served me homemade Baklava while I was dining, which was just so delicious, she makes it every day. It’s a real family affair with his sister Sepi involved as well, doing the social media and the wonderful murals on the wall. Also – Danial Che, my server was so great, he was helpful and navigated my lunch.

Here’s What I Tried:

Drinks:

Strawberry, Watermelon Lemonade, a delicious blend of two fruits, it is very sweet but will quench your thirst.

Rose Water, Chia Seeds Lemonade, a super unique drink, with a wonderful flavor.

Persian Iced Tea, served with mint and lemon, a nice way to enjoy iced tea.

For now, they do not have a liquor license but might apply for one in the future.

Soup:

Lentil Soup – Vegetarian Lentils with Vegetables. This soup is hearty but subtle, and super healthy.

Ash-e-Reshteh – Persian Noodle Soup, with noodles, beans, herbs and kashk. I never had this soup before, and now I am hooked. It is presented with a yogurt swirl on top with caramelized onions, a must have starter.

Appetizers:

Mazeh Plate Appetizer Combo, Hummus, Kashk-O-Bademjan, three pieces of falafel, Mast-O-Khiar, and Shirazi Salad.  Hummus – pureed chickpeas topped with paprika and olive oil, served with lavash chips. Mast-O-Khiar – cucumber yogurt dip, yogurt with chopped cucumbers.  Mast-O-Mosir – shallot yogurt dip, yogurt mixed with chopped shallots. Kashk-O-Bademjan eggplant dip, seasoned eggplant with caramelized onions, fried mint, and a yogurt sauce topping. This Meze platter is just amazing; you could just order this and be vary satisfied. Each item has its own delicious flavors and is very healthy, I just loved all of it!

Entrees:

Tadig – Crispy Rice, a Persian specialty of crispy rice, with a pea and beef stew on top. I just love the crispy rice; I was introduced to this rice from a Persian neighbor who would bring me this dish once a week. This version is super delicious.

Soltani Combo, with Basmati rice and grilled vegetables; and a side garden salad. With Koobideh, Beef Barg, and Chicken Kabob. They start you off with a big luxurious salad with the best dill ranch tahina type dressing. All the meats are very tender and moist with the perfect marriage of seasoning. It comes with basmati rice and a few grilled tomatoes and peppers. If you’re looking for lots of proteins, then this is the dish to order.

For me this was a lovely way to spend my lunch hour. All of my dishes were super fresh and fragrant; I just love the spices and individual nuances. Next time you want fantastic Mediterranean food give Pars Grill a try!
